About the centre

About the Centre at Ruby Hall Clinic

The Centre for Liver Science & Transplantation at Ruby Hall Clinic is a specialised centre dedicated to the comprehensive management of liver diseases, following a patient-centric and evidence-based approach. The centre has played a pioneering role in advanced liver care in the region and created history by performing the first liver transplant in Pune in 2012.

The centre offers expertise across the spectrum of liver diseases, providing both medical and surgical treatment under one roof. Patient care ranges from outpatient consultations and advanced diagnostics to highly specialised intensive care for liver transplant recipients, ensuring continuity and quality of care at every stage. A strong multidisciplinary team forms the backbone of the centre and includes experienced hepatologists, liver transplant surgeons, intensivists, anaesthesiologists, and specially trained nursing staff. The team members have received training at leading national and international centres of excellence, bringing global standards of care to local patients.

The centre routinely manages 70–80 liver transplant cases each year, including cadaveric liver transplantation, living donor liver transplantation, and paediatric liver transplantation. Clinical outcomes have consistently been comparable to those of leading liver transplant centres worldwide.

In addition to liver transplantation, the team is highly skilled in managing complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases requiring advanced surgical intervention. The centre also has experience in novel and complex procedures such as Kidney–Pancreas transplantation and Abdominal Multivisceral transplants, further strengthening its position as a comprehensive centre for advanced transplant and liver care.

7

Combined Liver–Kidney Transplant

Assessment for combined transplantation in selected patients with liver and kidney failure.

8

Split Liver Transplant

Use of portions of a deceased-donor liver for two suitable recipients in selected cases.

Which type of liver transplant may be suitable?
